New Year's Flowers

Traditional flowers for Tet holiday.
Tet holidays are the days of relaxation, happiness and joy. And similar to pine tree for Christmas holiday in the West, Vietnamese also use many kinds of flowers and plants to decorate their house in this special period. Some names can be listed out: Chrysanths, marigold, Mao Ga flower, paperwhite flower, lavender, to name a few. Some people nowadays even use orchid and rose, although this is not yet popular. And above all, there are 3 kinds of plants that can not be missing in Tet holidays: peach flower, ochna integerrima and marumi kumquat. Indochina sails – Halong Bay travel

The busy scene of flower market near Tet days can bring on both excitement and nostalgia
Peach flower and marumi kumquat are familiar in the North while South people prefer ochna itegerrima for Tet holidays. Another reason is the characteristics of the plants. While marumi kumquat and peach trees grow well in cold weather, ochna integerrima just can survive in tropical lands with lots of sunshine. Thien Mu Pagoda, Hue Travel

New Year's Flowers

People in 2 different parts of Vietnam have various explanations for this tradition. Northern people say that peach flowers blossom in spring – during Tet holidays while most other flowers still stay silent, symbolizing the strong vitality and a brave heart. Moreover, the pink colour of peach flowers shows the love and joy spread among people in this unique time of the year. Peach flower has 2 kinds: light peach with light pink colour and Nhat Tan – Ha Noi’s specialty peach with dark pink colour (nearly red). BASSAC CRUISE – TRULY EXPERIENCE THE UNIQUE CULTURE OF MEKONG DELTA

Peach flower - peaceful and elegant
Marumi kumquat bears different story. A tree with all 5 characteristics: full of fruits, flowers, leaves, branches and roots is a symbol for wealth and happiness for the new year. The tips for choosing a good plant are generated accordingly: the tree must have both ripe and green fruits, mature leaves and new bud - which represents wealth and luck brought to the family in the new year.
Vietnamese Kumquat for Tet
Kumquat - lucky and fruitful
The ochna integerrima in the South has another meaning. The golden yellow of the flower means the noble roots of Vietnamese (folktales said that the ancestors of Vietnamese is a couple of dragon and fairy). In addition, the high rate of blossom of the flower in Tet holidays also symbolizes the wealth and passionate love among people.
Mai Flower
Hoa mai (ochna integerrima) - bright and shining
Vietnamese usually buy those special plants from lunar mid-December from the flower market (some even try to have peach flower branches/trees from the mountains because of its impressive vitality) and keep them until lunar mid-January of the New Year. Some families keep the branches to the end of the lunar January.

Hanoi travel guide

Hanoi travel guide
Hanoi, one of the most beautiful of the colonial Indochinese cities, is often the start or end point of a trip to Vietnam, and what a great welcome or farewell it is. Oozing with charm, Hanoi has gone through wholesale changes since Vietnam swung open its doors to tourism, but it remains true to its essential personality and is an amazing city to experience. Glimpse of Central Highlands 5 days

Though considerably quieter than big sister Saigon, Hanoi still retains a vibrant atmosphere. From the early hours until late at night, the fig-tree shaded streets swarm with careening motorbikes, often with four, five or even six people aboard. A cyclo is available on most street corners, but unless you are making a particularly long trip, the best way to explore Hanoi is by foot. 3 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED LUXURY MEKONG RIVER CRUISES

It seems that in Hanoi, no two streets meet at 90 degrees and there so many one-way thoroughfares it sometimes feels like you can't get there from here, nor here from there. Count on getting lost. But a day of dodging traffic and elbowing your way through overcrowded footpaths is exactly how most people spend their time in Hanoi, and it's more fun than any purpose-built tourist attraction. Keep a map close at hand though, so when you find something that tickles your fancy, you can mark it down -- otherwise you risk never finding it again. Indochina sails – Halong Bay travel

Hanoi has a number of lovely parks and museums where you can while away the hours of a warm summer's afternoon -- Lenin Park, south of Hoan Kiem district and just north of Bay Kau Lake are among the most popular, especially on holidays, when it's packed with picnickers.

In winter months, you can find yourself a cozy cafe to snuggle up in, or find a streetside restaurant boiling up a pot of something belly-warming and delicious. While Hanoians are certainly happy to be free of the French occupation, they continue to embrace French culinary culture.

Big, fat, fresh baguettes are sold everywhere, good for a pate sandwich or smeared with the ubiquitous Laughing Cow cheese. The coffee is world class -- served strong and rich in demitasses -- with the best blends being smooth and chocolatey. Wine is widely available, though inadequate storage and rotation lead to some bad bottles.

Specialty places like The Warehouse on Hang Trong are good for a wide, reliable selection of domestic and foreign vintages. And, of course, the pasteries beckon too. Hanoi has a plentiful and delicious collection of patisseries spread all over the city boasting decadent but very affordable treats.

Finally, the people of Hanoi are some of the warmest and most approachable in the country. Though English is not as commonly spoken as in the South, many of the older generation have a working vocabulary of French. Regardless of language, people will attempt to have a conversation with you irrespective of whether you can understand them. Many of the city's cyclo drivers speak some English and often have intriguing pasts that they are now willing to discuss with foreigners.

In Hanoi, you may find yourself sitting in a cafe sipping excellent coffee, nibbling a pastry, chatting in French to an old gentleman sporting a beret, while looking out on a vista of French-style buildings in the shadows of fig trees. You may begin to doubt that you got off the plane in the right city. But then, sitting at a streetside restaurant, slurping up a bowl of bun cha with a side of fresh springrolls, watching the 'yoke ladies' trundle by in their conical hats, hawking their wares -- nope, it's not Paris warmed over ... It's full-on Hanoi, a city to be savoured.

So sánh điều hòa Inverter và Non-inverter

So sánh điều hòa Inverter và Non-inverter
A. Inverter :

So sánh điều hòa Inverter và Non-inverter

Giá thành mắc gần gấp đôi so với loại máy Non-Inverter cùng công suất.

The Legacy of the Vietnam War

The Legacy of the Vietnam War Zoom A crashed B52 bomber in a small suburban lake in Vietnam, Copyright: Peter Stuckings/Apa Publications
A crashed B52 bomber in a small suburban lake in Vietnam
The Vietnam war may be over but its aftermath is omnipresent. From rusty bullets for sale on street corners to the politics of international relations, the war’s impact can still be felt. Vietnam travel

In the years following the war with the US, Vietnam survived largely in isolation. From 1975 until 1994 it was illegal for US firms to trade with Vietnam, with the only form of help coming from Soviet quarters. But by the early 1990s relations with America were thawing and in 1995 formal diplomatic relations were restored by the then US president Bill Clinton. A raft of trade deals has since been signed that has catapulted Vietnam’s economy forwards. By the end of 2011 the Vietnam Trade Commission predicted that bilateral trade would reach US$20 billion, a 10 percent rise on 2010’s figures.  Jasmine Cruise – Halong Bay

In addition to economics, it is in the USA’s strategic interests to have Vietnam close, even if only to help keep rivals China in check. In turn, Vietnam values its relationship with the US for financial reasons, but it walks a fine line as it must be careful not to allow its growing US links to damage its ties with China. DAY TRIP CRUISE

Not forgotten...
The Legacy of the Vietnam War
The Legacy of the Vietnam War

Despite the healthy trade relations and Vietnam’s welcoming attitude to tourists – be they American, British or French – it would be a mistake to think that all is forgotten and forgiven. The war is still within living memory of many Vietnamese and Americans and there are scars on both sides. Still, most Vietnamese have few qualms about discussing the war and tourists should not consider it a taboo subject. Indeed, it would be virtually impossible to visit Vietnam and not have a conversation about the country's recent history.

The war has an influence on nearly everyone. Its effects on the physical landscape are clear, from the devastating impact of Agent Orange on the country’s fields to the still-visible bomb craters and, more significantly, the thousands of landmines that still lie undiscovered. For some, the war remnants offer an entrepreneurial edge as they sell allegedly genuine war medals and memorabilia to tourists – and some war sites (notably the Cu Chi Tunnels near Ho Chi Minh City) are full-scale tourist attractions.

Interest in the war is inevitable, and Vietnam does its best to oblige, even toning down some of the jingoistic propaganda. A case in point is the museum in Ho Chi Minh City originally known as “The House for Displaying War Crimes of American Imperialism and the Puppet Government”. This was later changed to the slightly less inflammatory “Museum of American War Crimes” and today it’s known far more euphemistically as the War Remnants Museum.

Another factor is the inevitable change as the country develops and new generations grow up. Younger citizens seem happy to embrace Western ideals. Ask Vietnamese teenagers whom they most admire today and they are more likely to name an English Premier League footballer than Uncle Ho (Chi Minh).

Ninh Binh travel guide

Ninh Binh travel guide
Ninh Binh city is the capital of the province of the same name: a small wedge-shaped province south of Hanoi, which stretches from Cuc Phuong National Park in the west to a sliver of land facing out to the Gulf of Tonkin. Built on both sides of Highway 1 and the railroad connecting Hanoi with Ho Chi Minh City, the city itself is a fairly uneventful place, but it is surrounded by a stunning landscape of lush green paddy fields and striking limestone outcrops and is the hopping off point for sights and attractions including Tam Coc and Trang An, Bich Dong, Hoa Lu, Phat Diem Cathedral, Van Long and Cuc Phuong National Park. Sapa tour – Unique to Vietnam

Many of the sights are within 12km of Ninh Binh city, and the land is flat, so they can be reasonably easily reached on a bicycle or motorbike. To really appreciate the scenery you need to get out and about, and -- outside of the boat trips -- the best way of doing that is by bicycle. Although the most direct way to most of the sights involves driving along main roads, it's possible to find routes via the backstreets, particularly between Ninh Binh City and Tam Coc and from Tam Coc to Hoa Lu. Bai Tho Junk – a romantic experience

The paths take you through villages and alongside rice paddies and lakes, with the ever present karst formations in the background. Make sure you get a good map, but bear in mind this may not help you and you may need to resort to asking passers-by or using GPS.

Most hotels will provide a map and rent bicycles for a few dollars and motorbikes for around US$7. Alternatively, arrange a tour or guide from your hotel or book onto a day trip or longer tour from Hanoi.

The town itself isn't especially noteworthy and while there are a couple of decent places to stay, increasing numbers of travellers are choosing to base themselves in Tam Coc to be even closer to some of the main attractions of the province. This can be a good idea if you're planning on spending more time in the area than just the single night that many travellers decide to go for.
Ninh Binh travel guide

Orientation
Highway 1 runs through the centre of Ninh Binh, from north to south, and is named Tran Hung Dao Street. Most services you'll require are located along or just off this main road, although the train and bus stations and some good hotels and eateries are to be found on the other side of the river: cross over the bridge where Tran Hung Dao meets the river. All guesthouses and hotels can assist with all manner of travel needs, from buying a train ticket to organising a guide to Cuc Phuong and renting bicycles and motorbikes.

Vietcombank and Techombank have branches with ATMs on Tran Hung Dao Street: Techombank is between the junctions of Van Giang and Le Hong Phong and Vietcombank is further north, on the other side of the road near Luong Van Tuy. The post office is also on Tran Hung Dao Street, just before the bridge.

Tác hại khi sử dụng điều hòa
